Hackney Wick FC opened the new year in spectacular fashion, dismantling NW London 7-0 in an utterly dominant performance. The victory not only underlined their title credentials but also closed the gap to league leaders Harlow Town to eight points, with two games in hand.
Despite their dominance, Hackney only led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a moment of brilliance from Issa Sidibie, who scored with an audacious overhead kick from outside the box.
The floodgates opened in the second half. Khaneil Brown doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Sidibie was brought down by the goalkeeper. Adam Cheneti followed with a curling effort from the edge of the box before Sidibie added his second goal to make it 4-0.
The final 15 minutes belonged to substitute David Woods, who came on and netted a sensational hat-trick to complete the rout.
Hackney’s emphatic win sets the stage for a massive clash against 3rd place Raleigh Town next weekend, as the Wickers continue their push for the league title.
