Hackney Wick made their best-ever start to a season with a sixth straight league win.

It was a tight game that could've gone either way at the end but the Wickers held on to keep their 100% record intact and return to the top of the league!

In a relatively drab first half, Leo Pola had the first shot of the game but it was comfortable for Ramblers keeper Jordan Hudson.

Minutes later, skipper Piotr Maslowski met a corner but headed well wide of the post.

Down the other end, the hosts were beginning to threaten and Hackney Wick keeper Bartz Klimkiewicz was forced to get down to push away an awkward shot.

The Wickers almost took the lead through Romaine Barnes-Wallace, whose fierce effort was well saved by Hudson.

Nixon Soglo was the next to come close for Hackney Wick, but again Hudson made a good stop before coming off worse in a collision.

In the final chance of the half, Bartz made a brilliant save to deny Burnham an opener.

The Wickers made a promising start to the second half, substitute David Woods going on a good run before his dangerous cross was almost diverted in for an own goal!

The breakthrough finally came midway through the second period, as Nixon sent a cross straight onto the head of Seb Mohammed, who converted!

After the goal, Burnham dominated, with the Wickers being limited to half-chances on the break.

Hackney Wick's hero would turn out to be Bartz, who made two stunning saves, one a serious contender to that of Gordon Banks, to deny the hosts an equaliser. His performance was worthy of 3 points itself!

Finally, after 100 minutes of intense football, referee James Perry blew his whistle, meaning that Hackney Wick secured a hard-fought victory!
