League Cup Quarter-Final
Hackney Wick FC cruised into the semi-finals of the League Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over higher-division opposition Hadleigh United, delivering a statement performance under the lights at the Simarco Stadium.
Despite resting both top scorers Issa Sidibe and Leo Pola, and fielding three U18 players, Hackney looked anything but the underdogs. From the first whistle, the Wickers played with purpose and intensity, blowing Hadleigh away with three first-half goals.
John Silva opened the scoring with a composed finish before Max Grappy doubled the lead with a confident strike. Moments later, the returning Seb Mohammed made it 3-0, rounding off a sensational first-half display.
David Woods, who has been in excellent form, added a fourth late on to seal the result and book Hackney’s place in the semi-finals for the first time since 2020—a tie that was never played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Up next in the cup: another tough test against Thetford Town next Tuesday. But before that, Hackney return to league action in a huge match against AS London, who will be fired up for revenge after last weekend’s defeat.
